10 No-Stress First Date Ideas
Asking a person out can be stressful enough but once you’ve found someone to agree to going on a date with you, you may find yourself under the immense pressure of planning a first date. Planning a first date can be stressful because you want everything to go smoothly and you also want to set yourself up for a second date.
The ideal first date offers the couple a chance to get to know each other in a casual atmosphere that doesn’t put too much pressure on them to keep up a constant stream of small talk. While first dates are the perfect opportunity to get to know someone new, if you are apprehensive about too much conversation on the first date, you can plan a date that focuses more on an activity than on conversation.
This type of date which focuses on a fun filled activity may be beneficial in leading to a second date. First dates don’t have to be stressful and there are many activities that are perfect for whatever type of first date you are looking to have.
Dinner theater is a perfect no-stress first date idea. The atmosphere is usually cozy and romantic and provides the perfect blend of conversation and entertainment. While a traditional dinner date can lead to awkward pauses in the conversation and the stress of juggling dinner and conversation, a dinner theater alleviates this stress because the meal is usually served during the performance.
This allows you to eat your meal without having to worry about small talk. Intermissions are a great opportunity for the couple to get to know each other and if you have trouble with a conversation starter you can always fall back on talking about the performance.
Another no-stress first date idea is the aquarium or a museum. The casual atmosphere alleviates the normal pressures of first dates. There is so much to see and do at these facilities that you will not be lacking things to talk about or do. You can spend a few hours wandering through the exhibits and really get to know your date. Be sure to ask questions about what your date likes or doesn’t like about the exhibits. Being inquisitive will give you a better understanding of your date’s personality.
Theme parks are also a great no-stress first date idea. Everybody loves the chance to be a kid again and the opportunity to spend a day on thrill rides is a great way to spend a first date. The long lines give you plenty of time to talk and get to know each other and you may find that every time the conversation starts to wane, you’ve made it to the front of the line and it’s your turn to jump onboard and enjoy the ride. The exhilaration of thrill rides may loosen inhibitions and bring a couple on a first date closer together.
If you are nervous about conversation, you might want to try the traditional movie and dinner first date. The movie portion of the date takes the stress of conversation off of your shoulders and afterwards at dinner you have an instant conversation starter. If you can’t think of anything to talk about, you can always ask her what she thought of the movie to spark up a conversation. Additionally you may find that after spending a few hours in a theater you already feel closer to your date and conversation comes easier than anticipated.
If conversation is your strong point and you’re are not at all worried about keeping a conversation going a great no-stress date idea for you may be a coffee shop. This is an environment where there is little to do except talk to your date. This is perfect for the person who enjoys the art of conversation and is really looking forward to getting to know their date.
A white water rafting trip can be a terrific no-stress date idea. Well, it may not be completely no-stress as the rapids can get pretty intense but it can be free of dating stress. Rafting is a fun an adventurous activity where you have the opportunity to bond by working together to navigate your raft through rapids and enjoy the excitement of riding the rapids. If you are not an experienced rafter, be sure to arrange to have this trip professionally guided so that you are not putting yourself in danger.
Still another no-stress first date idea is to spend some time volunteering. You can make arrangements for you and your date to spend a few hours volunteering at either a soup kitchen or an animal shelter or any other non-profit organization you like. This situation gives you a specific task to focus on and takes the stress off of the date. It also gives you the opportunity to see whether or not your date is interested in helping others or not. Make sure to check into this activity ahead of time because many places will not allow you to come in to volunteer unless you have completed a short introductory class beforehand.
Taking a course can be another great no-stress first date idea. Many colleges offer courses on a variety of subjects and you are bound to find one that will be of interest to you. For example a cooking class might be a fun first date idea. You will have the opportunity to learn a new skill together and will probably leave at the end of the night with a really tasty dish that you can enjoy together. Working together will alleviate the stress of a first date and will give you the opportunity to get to know each other in a casual environment.
Many cities offer singles or couples group bike rides or hikes. Taking advantage of one of these opportunities can lead to a no-stress first date. These activities can be fun because you are outdoors enjoying nature and you have the opportunity to get some exercise. These activities also often include scheduled breaks in a scenic location which can be a great time to really talk to your date and get to know them a little.
One final no-stress first date idea is a trip to a fun center that offers mini-golf and arcade games. Engaging in a game of miniature golf or squaring off by playing some video games is a fun and competitive way to spend your first date. The activities are lighthearted and fun and introducing the element of competition really loosens people up so you and your date will probably have an easy time getting to know each other.
The key to a successful first date is to plan activities that are fun and entertaining without placing too much pressure on the couple. Finding relaxing ways to get to know your date will ensure that your first date is a no-stress event that leads to a second date. A completely no-stress date is one that both parties enjoy and one that allows the couple to engage in a balance of fun activity and meaningful conversation without putting too much emphasis on any one aspect of the date.

Yoga – Breathing and Relaxing
You don’t need to fall into the stress mode of life.
You can use breath to relax, rather than stress, your mind and body.
Yoga helps you to relearn that natural state that your body and mind want to be in: relaxation.
Deep breathing is both calming and energizing. The energy you feel from a few minutes of careful breathe is not nervous or hyper, but that calm, steady energy we all need. Slow, steady, and quiet breathing gives a message to your nervous system: Be calm.
Whole books have been written on yoga breathing. Here is one 5-minute Breath Break. (Read through the instructions several times before you try the practice.)
1. Sit with your spine as straight as possible. Use a chair if necessary but don’t slump into it. Feet flat on the floor with knees directly over the center of your feet. Use a book or cushion under your feet if they do not rest comfortably on the floor. Hands are on the tops of your legs.
2. Close your eyes gently and let them rest behind closed lids.
3. Think about your ribs, at the front, back, and at the sides of your body. Your lungs are behind those ribs.
4. Feel your lungs filling up, your ribs expanding out and up. Feel your lungs emptying, your ribs coming back down and in. Don’t push the breath.
5. The first few times you do this, do it for 2 to 3 minutes, then do it for up to 5 to 10 minutes. At first, set aside a time at least once a day to do this. When you learn how good it makes you feel, you’ll want to do it at other times as well.
Just as one stressful situation goes into your next challenge, relaxing for a few minutes every day gradually carries over into the rest of your daily life and activities.

Organic Products and Raw Food Diet
Fortunately for those of us newly interested in eating organic and raw foods, there are lots of products out there. Natural and organic foods used to be found only in natural food stores, and those could be few and far between.
While not as ubiquitous as McDonald’s, there ARE many more stand-alone stores. And the grocery chains are catching on too, with more organic selections than ever before. If you don’t see them in your grocery store, just ask.
You’re probably not the only person in your neighborhood who’d like to see more of these options.
Many grocery stores now feature sprouts and other living foods in the produce aisle. Of course, if they don’t, there’s nothing easier to grow for yourself than sprouts!
There are also tons of sites on the Web where you can order raw and living foods. Just do a search on raw foods and you’ll come up with a lot of different places to order the foods you’d like to buy. Many of these sites are also full of useful information, to help you learn about eating raw foods, and help educate you on the specific food values.
What else? Experiment with what you like. Take the time to learn a little about what the different nutrients in foods do for you. A few examples:
Cabbage – High in Vitamin C; important for healthy cell function
Shitake mushrooms – contain essential fatty acids and antioxidants to support a healthy immune system
Kale – Rich in fiber and helps reduce calorie intake with less hunger. We like that!
Barley – Loaded with niacin, fiber and iron and is important for healthy blood sugar.
Pumpkin – So rich in fiber and vitamins; helps reduce appetite by filling the stomach with indigestible fibers

Eight Things to Consider when Handling your Contacts
Contacts are a great thing to have especially when eye glasses irritate you. They are stylish and discreet. The only way people know you are wearing contacts is when you choose to tell them.
The first contacts manufactured were uncomfortable and difficult to handle. Today’s lenses are easier to deal with and when handled properly, they are as comfortable as wearing nothing at all.
If you are a new contact wearer remember these eight things to consider when handling your contacts in order to get the most out of your new eye wear.
Clean Hands Make Clean Lenses
The number one rule in contact handling is you should always wash your hands well before touching your eye area or contacts. This will help you avoid getting anything in your eye. Sometimes, even when you think your hands are clean, there will be traces of moisturizers or food on them. If you touch your eye or your contacts, you will be putting yourself at risk for infection. So, be sure to always make it a habit to wash your hands before putting your contacts in and before taking them out.
Reuse Is Too Risky
Another thing you must always remember is that you should never reuse your contact solution. What this means is that you should always empty the solution from your contact case after you put your contacts in your eyes. This will keep the case cleaner and allow it to dry throughout the day while you are wearing your lenses. If you do reuse the solution for a few days, bacteria can grow in it. This can possibly damage your contacts and your eyes.
Replacing Your Case
Some contact wearers have no clue that you should replace your contact storage case every three months or sooner. This is an important rule when handling contacts. It is great to keep a few extra storage cases around your home, in case you forget to get one at your local store every three months. They are inexpensive and will not cost a lot to replace. If you keep your case too long, you are risking harvesting bacteria.
Keep Them Clean
Before you place your contacts in your eyes and after you take them out of your eyes, you should always clean them. This is extremely imperative for good contact hygiene. When you take the extra time to clean your lenses, they will last longer and feel more comfortable during normal wear. Even if you have a “no rub” saline solution, you should still make it a habit to rub each lens with saline solution in order to remove any possible build up.
Swimming with Contacts
Swimming with your contacts in is a huge mistake. Not only can the chemicals in the water ruin your contacts, but it can also cause you to have eye damage. You can experience serious eye diseases from swimming in your contacts that can even lead to blindness when not treated right away. So, be sure to always take your contacts out before hitting the beach, pool, or hot tub.
Makeup Rules
Just because you wear contacts it does not mean you can’t wear makeup as well. You should however follow a few basic rules. Remember to always put your contacts in before applying anything to your face, including moisturizer. Try to stick with eye shadows in cream form, as they won’t flake off into your eye. Even though you can’t always see the tiny particles, powder forms will flake. Also remember to be gentle with your eye area. Always remove your contacts before removing eye makeup to avoid any injury to your eye or the lenses.
Sleeping With Caution
Many people with soft lenses feel that it is safe to sleep in them. While some types of lenses are completely safe to sleep in, others are not. Some lenses will damage your eye when you sleep with them in. Be sure to ask your doctor about your lenses and the specific sleep rules. No matter if your lenses are fine for sleeping or not, when you sleep in your lenses, they will not last as long. So, be sure to remove your contacts before shutting your eyes for the night.
Eye Drop Specifics
Occasionally there are times when contact wearers will need a little extra moisture in their eyes. Instead of reaching for normal eye drops however, contact users must only use contact-friendly solutions. There are specific eye drops made for contact users, so be sure to look for them at your local general merchandise store.
